There are so many seasonal fashion trends that it can feel hard to keep up with them all. Nautical prints, destroyed denim, and plush fabrics all have their own distinct time of year. But if there is one trend for the summer of 2017 that you don’t want to miss out on, it is far-and-away the florals.
Here is why floral is the one simple summer fashion trend you don’t want to miss out on.
Don’t let the word “simple” fool you – the florals of summer 2017 are bigger and badder than ever before. I’m not talking about your grandmothers curtains or some dainty, feminine baby’s breath here, although both have their place on the runway and in your closet. This year’s floral prints are bold statements that demand your attention. They’re packed with detail and life. These are prints that you cannot just walk past without noticing, and that’s exactly what they were designed for. In this instance, the trend is simple only in that it isn’t overly complicated. Of course, lots of designers are mixing their prints with other patterns like plaid and polka dots, but the real eye-catchers are the head-to-toe florals.

I think my favorite part about fashion’s renewed love for floral is that you can make it work for YOU, no matter who you are. You don’t have to be stomping down the runway at Milan Fashion Week to get in on these looks! Tons of designers are adding florals to their ready-to-wear collections, and interpretations of these patterns are already available to the public. Just check out your local H&M or Express and you’ll see what I mean.
The reason I personally classify this as the one summer trend you don’t want to miss out on, is because it’s not going anywhere any time soon. And I, for one, seriously could not be more thrilled about it. Check out these pieces from Alexander McQueen’s Ready-To-Wear 2017 Fall line:

Another reason I’m so obsessed with this trend is that there is truly a floral that works for everyone. Not every print is going to compliment every skin tone, shape, or taste, of course. There are some that I personally would pass up, too. But there are so many variations, color palettes, and textures to choose from that I feel pretty safe saying there is a floral out there for everyone.
And if you needed more proof of this trend’s staying power, there are spring/summer 2018 collection previews that confirm our notions.
These florals are here to stay.
